FAQ
ARE YOU LIKE THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SERVICES (DCS)?
No. Allowing us to care for your child is a decision you make. It is not like foster care. You can decide how long you would like help. Our families do not receive any pay for caring for your child.
WILL I LOSE CUSTODY OF MY CHILD IF I USE BRINGING CHILDREN HOPE?
No. We care for your child using a Power of Attorney. But you are still the parent in every way.
WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND? CAN I GET MY CHILD BACK?
Yes. You can have your child back at any time. We just need enough time to contact the Care Family and arrange a day/time to meet. We prefer it be Monday-Friday, as those are our regular hours.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?
There is never a cost to you for our care. We just want to help you in a time of distress or uncertainty.
WILL MY CHILDREN BE PLACED TOGETHER WITH THE SAME CARE FAMILY OR WILL THEY BE SPLIT UP?
We try our best to keep children together. But, depending on the number and ages of children, they may need to be in different homes. For longer placements we try to arrange play times so they can see each other.
CAN I CALL OR VISIT MY CHILD?
Absolutely! We want you to remain in close contact with your child. Your Family Advocate will work with you and your Care Family to set up phone calls and visits. We want your child to see you and know you are doing ok.
HOW LONG CAN MY CHILD STAY WITH A CARE FAMILY?
We have cared for just one night, or for several weeks or months. It all depends on your situation and how we can best meet your family's needs. We will work together on the plans.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I USE BRINGING CHILDREN HOPE?
You can use our Care Homes as many times as you need to until you are back on your feet. There is no limit to the number of times you can ask for help. We want you and your children to get the help that you need.
